Both Hands Studio
Lynn Wilkes Armstrong
Lynn’s process borrows from varied skills. She rolls clay into sheets like pastry. Using printmaking methods, she impresses textures into the responsive surface of the smooth slabs. Like a dressmaker, she uses paper templates to cut the pattern pieces that fit together to make many different forms.
Two dimensional shapes are integrated into volumetric vessels before allowing to harden into functional forms. Fired in a kiln, and then fired again with a thin layer of glaze, creates unique art from what was once earth.
